Anti-Bullying

College Credit Plus

Students taking College Credit Plus courses will be provided books which are assigned for the course. The procedure, however, is different for students taking the courses at MLS and those taking courses at LCCC.

Students at LCCC - Students should obtain their books at the LCCC Bookstore. When the semester is completed, those students should return their LCCC Books to the Main Office of Amherst High School. Due to changes in funding, those books are the property of the Amherst Exempted Village Schools and must be returned at the end of a course. Failure to return those books to MLS will result in book fees being assessed to your student account at Amherst High School.

Students at MLS - Students taking CCP Courses at MLS will have their books provided for them in class. There is no need to travel to LCCC for purchase, all books will be provided by your instructor at MLS.

SAT and Kahn Academy Partnership

Amherst unveiled their new partnership with the College Board, SAT, and Kahn Academy. Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, Amherst will provide the full suite of SAT assessments to freshmen, sophomores, and juniors at no cost to parents!

In the fall during a school day, all freshmen will take the PSAT9, all sophomores will take the PSAT10, and all juniors with take the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) to establish a baseline measurement for college readiness before the spring of their junior year. In addition, all juniors will be eligible to compete for recognition and scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Program and access to over $180 million in worldwide scholarship opportunities.

And with the Kahn Academy partnership, Amherst students will use their PSAT baseline scores to create an official SAT practice program that is tailored and personalized for each student. For more information about the suite of SAT assessments and Kahn Academy, please view the information below:

Reading Tips for Parents - No Child Left Behind

Notice of Parents Right-to-Know

You have the right to know about the teaching qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher in a school receiving Title I funds. The federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that any school district receiving Title I funds must notify parents of each student attending any school receiving Title I funds that they may request, and the district will provide the parents on request (and in a timely manner), information regarding the professional qualifications of the student’s classroom teachers, including at a minimum, the following:

Whether the teacher has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction;
Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived; and
Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher;
Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

Mackenzie Hall - I am excited to join Amherst Exempted Village Schools as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Serving as a curriculum leader has always been my career dream, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve in that capacity in our community. I earned my undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Ashland University, and completed the Inspired Leaders Principal Licensure Program with Cleveland State University. After receiving my principal license, I served as an assistant principal and principal in Westlake and Avon Lake. My family and I are proud to call Amherst home!
