Principal's Corner

Principal's Message

I am looking forward to beginning my first year as principal of Nord Middle School. It is an exciting time here at Nord while we prepare to welcome the third and fourth grade teams to the building as they transition from Harris to join our fifth grade team. We will have approximately 70 staff members working together to educate 730 students this year.

If you are looking to stay informed and connected with events at the school, please look over the school’s website for important information and consider following me on social media. You may follow me on Remind using the access code that will be provided to you at the start of the 2017-2018 school year, and Twitter @NordPrincipal. You may also contact me through e-mail at jill_jiovanazzo@amherstk12.org.

Biography

Hello! My name is Jill Jiovanazzo. I’m a lifelong resident of Amherst and proud to say I started my schooling in kindergarten at Powers and went through all of the schools, graduating from Marion L Steele High School. I then attended Ashland University through their partnership program with Lorain County Community College and received my Bachelor’s of Science in Early Childhood Education. I taught in Avon for thirteen years where I spent four years as a first grade teacher and nine years as a second grade teacher. During my time in Avon, I completed my Masters of Educational Leadership through Bowling Green State University.

In my free time, I enjoy watching sports and attending games, home improvement projects, walking my dogs, and spending time with my family and friends. I love traveling to visit my extended family as well, and my favorite place to visit is Florida where I spend my time between Disney World and The Villages. I also have a one year old daughter whom I’m adopting, and together we enjoy reading books, playing in water, taking walks, and petting the dogs.

I’m excited to have the opportunity to lead the students and staff of Nord Middle School in continued excellence and look forward to welcoming everyone to the building at the start of the school year.
