Principal's Corner

Principal's Message

Hello Comet Nation!

My name is Michael J. May, the 2017-18 school year will be my fifth year as Marion L. Steele High School Principal. I will be entering my eleventh year as a secondary school administrator. I am excited to be working with such a talented group of educators at Steele. It is equally exciting to be educating and viewing the daily growth of the students. Marion L. Steele High School’s building schedule offers many electives, music & art courses, CCP, AP courses and additional interventions for students!

The weather has changed and we are shifting to cooler temperatures. There will also be several holidays in the coming months. We hope you enjoy the time you spend with family and friends. We will continue to represent the district and city with strong Comet Pride!

In the 2016-17 school year we offered 15 College Credit Plus courses totaling 54 college credits through our Comet College Campus here at MLS, up from 31 total credits in 2015-16! This provides students the ability to earn an Associate’s degree. 302 Marion L. Steele High School students earned 4,162 college credits for the 2016-2017 school year, leading the Southwest Conference and providing families an LCCC value saving of $659,011 and over $1.5 million at an Ohio 4 year public university.

We continue to build a strong sense of community and the ability to take risks, both are important components of the learning process. Marion L. Steele High School students have been displaying their Comet Pride in their daily interactions at school, in the community, and while supporting their peers at extracurriculars. The student body has truly represented our school, district, and community in a positive light.

Please look over our webpage, it has a wealth of information and links with up to date information regarding many items at Marion L. Steele High School.

I will always be communicating through the Marion L. Steele High School webpage, print media, Remind app, twitter and Instragram accounts regarding the excellence we strive for each day. I will continue tweeting regarding the positive educational items and extracurricular events occurring here at Steele. The twitter account is: @SteelePrincipal.

Thank You for your continued support!
