Principal's Corner

Principal's Message

Hello Comet Nation!

My name is Michael J. May, Marion L. Steele High School Principal. I am excited to be working with such a talented group of educators at Steele. It is equally exciting to be educating and viewing the daily growth of the students. Marion L. Steele High School’s building schedule offers new electives, CCP courses and additional interventions for students all without adding staff!

April and May will bring change to the weather as we begin to see more sunshine, flowers and longer days. I encourage all parents/guardians to stay in communication with our talented staff. Communication is the key to ensure we all are aiding students as they move towards the end of the school year. We will certainly do our part in leading students to success!

This year we are offering 15 College Credit Plus courses totaling 54 college credits through our Comet College Campus here at MLS, up from 31 total credits in 2015-16! In addition, we are still collaborating with LCCC with the hope to bring more courses as students utilize our programming ability to earn an Associate’s degree. Marion L. Steele High School students earned the most college credits in Lorain County for the 2014-2015 (1,641) and 2015-2016 (2,021) academic school years.

In addition, we are still collaborating with LCCC with the hope to bring more courses as students utilize our programming ability to earn an Associate's degree. Jason Hawk's November 2015 article focuses on how these high powered educational courses which are being expanded for the 2016-17 school year save families valuable dollars. New College-level courses at Steele could save you cash.

We continue to build a strong sense of community, belonging and the ability to take risks, all which are important components of the learning process. Marion L. Steele High School students have been displaying their Comet Pride in their daily interactions at school, in the community, and while supporting their peers at extracurriculars. The student body has truly represented our school, district, and community in a positive light.

Please look over our webpage, it has a wealth of information and links with up to date information regarding many items at Marion L. Steele High School.

I have been communicating through the Marion L. Steele High School webpage, print media, Remind app, and twitter account regarding the excellence we strive for each day. I will continue tweeting regarding the positive educational items and extracurricular events occurring here at Steele. The twitter account is: @SteelePrincipal.

Thank You for your continued support!
