Creative Learning Center

Welcome to the new Creative Learning Center at Marion L. Steele High School.

The redevelopment of this space was made possible through a generous donation from the Amherst Schools Educational Foundation.

Creative Learning Spaces provide an active learning environment for twenty-first century learning. Twenty-first century learning means that students master content while producing, synthesizing, and evaluating information from a wide variety of subjects and sources. Students demonstrate the three Rs but also learn the four Cs: creativity, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration, thus creating learners who take intellectual risks, fostering learning dispositions, and nurturing school communities where everyone is a learner. In this setting, educators can leverage technology to create an engaging and personalized environment to meet the emerging educational needs of this generation. No longer does learning have to be one-size-fits-all or confined to the classroom. The opportunities afforded by this Creative Learning Center will be used to rethink twenty-first century education, focusing on preparing students to be learners for life.
