Nutrition Services Department Announcement | September 12, 2023
Rachel Mellen

Yay Ohio! We are now one of 14 states selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to participate in the Direct Certification with Medicaid Demonstration Project. Ohio’s participation, which starts this school year, allows households that receive Medicaid to automatically qualify for free or reduced-price school meals for their school-age children.  If your household receives Medicaid, you should receive a letter stating your children qualify for free or reduced-price meals for this school year.  (An added benefit this year is that all those students who qualify for reduced-price meals can receive them at no cost!). If your letter says your child(ren) qualifies for free meals, you can have their instructional fees waived.  Just write in all their names in the bottom portion, sign, date and return the form to Deanne Kelbley, 550 Milan Ave., Amherst, OH 44001. You may also send the form with your student to be turned into the school office.

If you have any further questions, please contact Deanne at deanne_kelbley@amherstk12.org or 440-988-1991.
