The Amherst Schools Educational Foundation (ASEF) supports innovative programs, student scholarships, and staff development across the district. Funded by alumni, families, staff, businesses, and community members, ASEF benefits Amherst students now and in the future.

Operating under the Amherst Exempted Village Schools Board of Education, ASEF manages an endowment to fund grants and scholarships. A volunteer board of nine trustees—comprising community leaders, alumni, and supporters—guides its mission.

What does my donation support?

  • Since 2000, the Amherst Schools endowment has awarded over $1 million in educational grants and student scholarships.

  • Each year, 20+ scholarships are awarded to deserving students. [See list below]

  • Educational grants fund innovative programs and activities that enhance and enrich classroom learning.

  • All ASEF grants align with district goals and fund innovative projects beyond the scope of the regular school budget, enhancing the educational experience for all students.

One recent example is the creation of the new Comet Corner at Marion L. Steele — a collaborative initiative with our Makerspace programs. This dynamic space provides students with hands-on experience in business, marketing, and entrepreneurship, preparing Comets with real-world skills for future success. Please see more about Comet Corner in the video below.

Where does my donation go?

  • 100% of your gift directly supports the Amherst Schools—and it's fully tax-deductible.

  • Your donation is a lasting investment in the future of our students. Contributions to our endowment funds grow over time, expanding their impact year after year.

  • Only the interest earned is used for grants and scholarships—your principal gift remains untouched, ensuring long-term support for generations to come.
