Assistant Principal's Message

AJH is excited to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Mr. John Brown! John began his career as a science teacher at Chanel High School in 1992 before moving back to Lorain County teaching biology, environmental science, and chemistry from 1996-2004 at North Ridgeville High School. In August of 2004, John accepted his first administrative role as assistant principal of Midview High School. After four and a half years at Midview High School, John accepted the role as principal of Midview Middle School where he served for over thirteen years. After 18 years in Midview, John served as assistant principal at Keystone High School for two years before accepting his role as assistant principal at Amherst Junior High School. John is thrilled to work in a district and building as successful as AJH and looks forward to meeting everyone and beginning to build the relationships with staff, students, and parents. We are excited to welcome him into Comet Nation!

Dean of Students Message

I grew up in Amherst and am a proud Amherst Comet Alumni. I have a Bachelor's degree in Education through Ashland University. I also hold a Master's Degree in Special Education through Grand Canyon University and am currently completing my Principal Licensure through the American College of Education.

I am excited and honored to serve the students, community, and staff as the Dean of Students at Amherst Junior High and Powers Elementary School. I have had the privilege of teaching at Powers Elementary School since 2015. Previously, I taught at Vermilion Local School District and at St. Mary Academy in Lorain.

I live in Amherst with my husband, David, who is a teacher at Amherst Junior High School. We have two grown children, (Dakota and Kylie) who are Amherst graduates and our son, Carter, is an 8th grade student this year. We love being part of the Amherst community and are honored to serve our Comet family!

As the Dean of Students, I am committed to making a positive impact and supporting your child’s journey as an Amherst Comet. Please reach out if I can be of assistance in any way!
