Principal's Message

Fellow Comets,

Thank you for visiting the Principal's Corner to learn a little bit more about me.  I'm currently beginning my third year as Principal of Walter G. Nord School, proudly serving my home community and contributing to the development of our eager youth.

Our staff looks forward to sharing all of the exciting things happening here at Nord throughout the year and will utilize a variety of tools to communicate with you.  Along with the Nord website and calendar, we will deliver monthly newsletters to your email and schedule automated phone calls with important information.  You may also sign up for messages on Remind App.  (Instructions will be given on the website in August.)  Finally, consider following us on Twitter and Instagram @NordPrincipal, #NewsfromNord, and #oneteamonegoalallcomets, to celebrate with us in our successes.

Ms. Jill Jiovanazzo

I've lived my entire life in Amherst, and proudly received my K-12 education through the our school system.  As a youth, I dabbled in pre-k soccer and t-ball before riding horses became my passion.  Throughout my childhood, I was an active member of the 4-H community and spent most of my time outside of school training and showing horses.  As an adult, I enjoy reading, professional sports, and live theatre.

I received my Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Ashland University in 2004 and began teaching in Avon, Ohio shortly after where I taught the first and second grades.  During that time I also received my Master's in Educational Leadership from Bowling Green State University.  In the spring of 2017, I was fortunate enough to return to my home district as the Principal of Walter G. Nord School.

I still live in Amherst with my daughter who will be joining the Amherst Schools as a preschool student this year.  Together, we enjoy water play, amusement parks, playgrounds, and shopping and dining with friends around town.
