My name is Beth Schwartz and I am the principal of Powers Elementary School. I am proud to be a member of such a great school! At Powers Elementary, we work hard to provide each student with a quality education and the skills needed for future success.
I love sharing the good things we are doing at Powers. You can follow me on Twitter @Mrs_Schwartz for updates, pictures, and information about the fun things we are doing at school.
My teaching career began in special education. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in special education from Bowling Green State University. I was an intervention specialist with the Huron City Schools for five years. I then came to Amherst, where I taught special education at Nord Middle School for seven years. During my teaching career, I was very proud to earn my National Board Certification. I then earned my Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Ashland University. In August of 2011, I began serving as principal at Harris Elementary School and just transitioned to Powers Elementary School this summer. I have continued my education through Kent State University. We never stop learning!
Assistant Principal's Message - Corrie Engle
As the Assistant Principal and Preschool Director of Powers Elementary School, I will be working with students to create a positive climate where all students show off their Comet Pride.
I received my undergraduate degree in Special Education from Miami University. I spent one year teaching in Columbus before coming to Amherst. Since coming to Amherst I have worked at both Nord and Powers as an Intervention Specialist. After a few years of teaching I decided to continue my education at Fort Hays State University where I received my master’s degree in Administration.
When you can't find me in the classroom you'll find me on the track with the Junior High Track team. Although currently, I’ve stepped away from coaching to focus all of my attention on to meeting the needs of our students here at Powers. I am looking forward to working with you and your student! Have a great school year and GO COMETS!
