Steele Jazz Band I, under the direction of Angela Cresap, recently attended the Tri-C JazzFest DownBeat Education Day in downtown Cleveland.
Students learned from the legendary Count Basie Orchestra, who provided feedback, led workshops, and performed live. A highlight of the day was joining the orchestra on stage for the final number!
Students also connected with professional musicians and explored Cuyahoga Community College’s arts programs.
An unforgettable experience filled with music, learning, and inspiration! 🎷💫

We’re getting excited for our upcoming Summer Activity Fair on Wednesday, April 29th from 5:00–7:00 PM at Powers Elementary School!
A full list of vendors will be shared in the coming weeks as we finalize participants—but we’re already looking forward to an evening filled with fun, engaging, and educational opportunities for our students and families! 💚💛

Local organizations are welcome to join us to promote summer programs and activities for our community!
📩 Please contact Assistant Superintendent Sarah Walker for more information.
Stay tuned for more updates—we can’t wait to see you there! 🚀

Mrs. Annabell’s kindergarten class recently stepped back in time with a hands-on exploration of Colonial towns as part of their CKLA Knowledge curriculum! 🏡
Students discovered the important roles of housebuilders, weavers, and blacksmiths—and even got the chance to make their own butter! 🧈
What a fun and engaging way for our young Comets to experience history and bring their learning to life!

"Like the pieces of a puzzle, we gather together to build friendships that feel like family—because we all fit together!"
The Nord Puzzle Club Buddies launched this school year under the guidance of Ms. Susan Hershiser and Miss Rachael Maria, and what an incredible start it’s been! What began with 15 members quickly grew to 23, with about 20 students regularly attending each meeting.
Each gathering is filled with music, social time, and a snack before students team up to complete a variety of puzzles—building not only problem-solving skills, but meaningful friendships along the way. 🧩✨
Their impact goes far beyond the classroom! This amazing group has:
🎄 Marched in the Miracle on Main Street parade
🎁 Donated wrapped gifts and handmade cards to residents at Amherst Manor during the holidays
🤝 Partnered with local organizations to share their work
Most recently, the club gifted puzzles to the Amherst Police Department and to Superintendent Molnar for display at the Board of Education.
Be sure to keep an eye out for more of their amazing work around the community—these students are truly making a difference, one piece at a time! 🧩
